Building Authority to Your Website!

Most people have heard of backlinks, but do you know where to get them? Here are the best places for your local Voda franchise:

  • Chambers of commerce (cities you service)
  • Local news stations
  • Local education institutions (Universities, Schools etc)
  • Other businesses that provide adjacent services to the ones you do
  • BNI Chapters
  • LinkedIn (Add your micro-site to your profile)
  • Reddit (For your local area)

Local relevance is incredibly important in the eyes of Google! Please let us know if you have questions pertaining to how to build authority to your micro-sites!

Google Algorithm Update – December 2024

Yup! We just finished a November Core algoirthm update and Google decided it’s time for another one! Expect website ranking volatility during this time!

February 2025 – Have You Built Your LinkedIn Profile Yet?

One of the primary ways that Google and other search engines decide who should rank at the top for searches has to do with something called “Authority.” Authority is a search engine optimization signal that helps search engines determine whether you or your competitor is a better option when people search for terms like “Water Damage Company.”

So, how can we build authority?

One way is by getting votes of confidence from other websites, also known as backlinks. By earning these, we help Google understand more about the Voda brand nationally and continue building authority

Here’s a great way we can all contribute: LinkedIn

1.) Create a New Page – Log into LinkedIn with your primary personal profile and create a company page at the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/company/setup/new/

2.) Fill Out the Information – Enter your location’s information exactly as it appears on your Google My Business listing. The business name should match, including “Voda Cleaning & Restoration – [City].” Add your micro-site URL, select “Consumer Services” as the industry, and choose “Privately Held” as the organization type. The organization size should reflect your local team size, not the entire franchise. The logo and tagline should match the corporate branding to ensure consistency across all locations

3.) Fill Out the About Section – After completing the initial setup, go to the About section and copy the same About information from the main Voda LinkedIn page. This keeps the messaging consistent across all locations. You can find this information on the main Voda LinkedIn page here:

https://www.linkedin.com/company/vodacleaningrestoration/

4.) Scroll Down in the About Section – Add your phone number and the year your location was founded. You should also include your specialties, which are your core services. Examples are included in the screenshot below

5.) Page Buttons – In the Page Buttons section, if you do not want to receive messages through LinkedIn, you can turn this feature off. Also, adding a custom button linking to your micro-site gives another way for people to contact you directly

By setting up your LinkedIn page, you’re helping build Voda’s national authority, improving SEO for both your location and the brand as a whole, and increasing visibility for your business. If you have any questions or need help, feel free to reach out to our team, and we can assist!

Note: Screenshots below are just an example of the Tucson location, but it should be specific to yours

February 2025 – Website Revamp in Progress!

We are in the process of revamping your website! We will send you a link to review and give us feedback soon! Our goal is to have the revamp completed between March 15th and 31st! Please keep an eye out, your feedback is valuable to us!

February 2025 – Expand Your GMB Reach!

I got an awesome tip for everyone today that could help you guys expand your Google My Business proximity over time!

I am sure you all know Google tracks everything we do! They are tied to our mobile devices and use our area of location to populate ads and make recommendations to us

But, what’s even better, is we can use this technology to benefit us. How, you ask? Through photo uploads or updates from job locations, while we are at the physical location

Here are the steps to do upload photos to your GMB:

1.) When you’re at a job site, take before and after photos! Potential consumers are highly attracted to photos that show all the great work you’re doing

2.) Go into your Google My Business/ Google Business Profile if possible, and upload the photo from your phone/device while you’re on site to an Update or your Photo Gallery

3.) Write a small compelling post about the job or service:

“We had the opportunity to come out and do a Carpet Cleaning today in the Tucson, AZ Area! We couldn’t be more happy to restore these carpets, and give this family fresh carpets to walk on for their children!

If you’re looking to have newer looking and feeling Carpets as soon as tomorrow, Voda Cleaning and Restoration of Tucson is here to help! We also provide:

Water Damage and Restoration Services
Upholstery Cleaning
Tile and Grout Cleaning
and More!”

4.) Select the “Call Now” button or “Learn More” and add your microsite location url.

Google will then associate the service you provided with the geo-information (longitude and latitude), of your phone, which will expand your opportunities over time!

While I know this is a time-consuming process, we have seen incredible results across the country!

March 2025 – Improve GMB Ranking with FAQs

I caught the tail end of the meeting about FAQ today, and it jogged my memory. One of the best places to leverage FAQs for ranking is actually on your GMB/GBP profile! Google allows people to ask questions here, and the more that ask, and the more that you answer, the more long-tail keywords your profile can rank for.

Why does this matter?

  • Every question and answer on your Google Business Profile acts as additional content that Google indexes.
  • The more relevant, keyword-rich questions and answers you have, the better your chances of ranking for long-tail searches (e.g., “Do you offer carpet cleaning in [city]” instead of just “carpet cleaning”).
  • This is especially important for competitive markets like carpet cleaning and water restoration, where small ranking boosts can make a big difference in lead generation.

How to Get More Questions on Your Profile:

  1. Ask friends, family, or even your team to post common customer questions on your Google Business Profile.
    • Example: “How often should I schedule professional carpet cleaning in [CITY]?”
    • Example: “Do you offer water damage restoration for flooded basements in [CITY]?”
  2. Provide clear, detailed answers that include city modifiers (your location name) and relevant keywords.
    • Instead of just saying, “Yes, we offer water damage restoration,”
    • Say, “Yes! We provide 24/7 emergency water damage restoration in [CITY] for flooded homes, basements, and businesses. Our team specializes in fast water extraction, drying, and mold prevention.”
  3. Encourage real customers to ask questions about your services after a job is done. This creates a natural, ongoing engagement on your profile.
  4. Keep responding! Google values engagement. When you answer questions quickly and professionally, it signals that your business is active and trustworthy.

The Result?

By doing this consistently, you’ll:

  • Expand your ranking potential with long-tail keywords.
  • Increase local visibility and relevance in Google searches.
  • Build trust with potential customers by answering real concerns.
  • Generate more qualified leads from the map section!

This is an easy but powerful way to boost your GMB/GBP ranking without spending a dime on ads. If you have any questions on how to set this up, just let us know!
